new york, new york : round 2 : 2010 : II

for those of you who have not experienced a true new york hot dog, i feel for you.
i really do.
because i'm pretty sure i wasn't really living until i had one of these babies...

i. don't. know. what. i. ate. before. gray's.

would it be so bad to eat hot dogs with kraut & mustard and a papaya juice to drink every day??
i mean - the juice actually aids in digestion people.
come on!

the big news of the day was that bub rub & amanda were getting into town!! yay!!

they got a fan-stinkin-tastic room on the 32nd floor with an empire state building view.
stunning.

after they got all of their stuff put away & got a little rested from the flight up, we all settled on blue smoke bbq for dinner.
but literally - right before we were supposed to leave, d.might got super sick.
so he stayed in & the rest of us went to check out 'the best mac & cheese ever!'

mmmmm......

the mac & cheese ended up being okay.
not the best i've ever had, but not too bad.
however, if it's bbq you want - stick to the south. not some place in manhattan. word to the wise.

after dinner, bub rub, amanda, bart & i decided to head to m&m world & munch on goodies while perusing times square.

have no idea why there were so many nypd motorcycles around, but they looked cool.

here is amanda's first glimpse of times square!

awwww - bart + bub = true love.

amanda & i actually went on a little adventure the next day.
we had heard there were some outlet shops on long island.
so we hopped a train - a t.r.a.i.n. not a subway, as in there were armed guards everywhere we looked in penn station - to long island for part of the day!
it wasn't too long of a ride, but let's face it. i get motion sickness if i walk too fast.
when we got off the train, we could see the outlet center in the distance - so instead of paying for a cab to take us over there, we just started walking.
we walked right down a dead end street.
and then proceeded to jump a fence.
and crawl under another.
and THEN we were at the outlet center!
proof that you can take the girl out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the girl...

while on the train back into manhattan, we got a text from the boys saying they had gone to dylan's WITHOUT us.
ummmmmm. NO.
just no.

i know many of you are probably wondering how amanda even received any texts on her zak morris phone she was flashing around.
i kept telling her to put it away someone might steal that sweet thang.

i digress...
so we made them take us back.
duh.

** side note - this is also the night that the concierge at the hotel presented amanda with a little gift before we went out... i refuse to tell the whole story here, but feel free to ask me all about it in person. HI-LARIOUS. **

us girls on amanda's first subway ride!!!
she almost died from the smell...
i told her she'd get used to it.
and then come to miss it...
pretty sure she hasn't missed it yet.

yay for 5lb. bags of candy!!!!

we got to dylan's right when they were closing & we were STARVING!
so we just walked around until we stumbled upon this...

and had we seen this before we went in...

then we probably would've kept walking!
oy vey.

on to times square.
again.
because it's where you go at midnight to hang.

total tourist move. posing with the nypd.
but they asked us twice to take a pic with them, so who are we to say no???

the empire state building lit up like a candy corn for halloween!

and let me just set the scene for the next picture.
because ummmm - IT'S PRICELESS.

we all decided to go check out macy's & see if we could drop some dough.
and with three dudes in tow, there was no way amanda & i were going to be able to look at the girl stuff.
so to the men's department we went.

there was this whole 'we hate skinny jeans!' movement going on since the start of the trip, mind you, so when one of the boys spotted an entire TABLE full of multiple colors of skinny jeans, it was all we could do to keep them from trying them on.

i wish i was kidding.
they each got a pair.
red, purple, and green.
bart & d.might went in the dressing room first.
not together - CALM DOWN.
but they only made it to the doorway before almost peeing on themselves with laughter.
not kidding.
the poor old 80yr old dressing room attendant lady was so ill with our crew it wasn't. even. funny.

but we were all still holding out hope for bub rub...

they. help. my. time.

LO & BEHOLD -- he came through!!!
ladies - that is a real man right there.
sportin' his skinny jeans for all the world to see.
{please do not inquire, he's taken.} ;)
